Among the main protagonists of the historical-critical teaching of photography in Italy, he holds one-on-one courses and at professional photography institutes (see).

It deals with creating a critical look at the relationship between images and experience: on the rules of the game with which images are given meaning.

He is a consultant and trainer of professionals and artists, and is president of the jury and portfolio reader in professional and fine art contests.
Author of various books - including some long-sellers, such as “Portfolio!" and “Reading photography" - (see) as well as numerous essays on photographic, artistic and cultural subjects.

He has curated exhibitions in Italy and abroad and his articles have appeared in international magazines such as Aperture (New York), HotShoe (London), Eyemazing (Amsterdam), Muse Magazine (Milan), Around Photography (Bologna).
